WWW Wednesday – 2.6.19

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words. If you participated in your own post, please feel free to leave a link in the comments, so I and others can see! Otherwise, feel free to leave a comment with your responses. I’m always happy to hear what other people are reading.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

New week, new me, let’s do this!

What are you currently reading?

the night tiger

I’m almost done with this ARC of The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo. So far, I’m very much enjoying it. The characters are all incredibly interesting and intricate, and it’s fascinating to watch how everyone is connected. Choo can definitely write a mystery, though, because I still don’t know exactly how everyone’s connected or what we’re building towards, and as a result, the tension is staying high. I don’t love it as much as I did The Ghost Bride, but it’s still a marvelous sophomore novel so far.

What did you recently finish reading?

language of thorns

I finally read The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo, finishing it a day before I saw her for her King of Scars book tour. First of all, props to anyone who can write new fairytales and make them interesting, because that is so hard. I liked how Bardugo drew from inspirations like Beauty and the BeastThe Velveteen Rabbit, and The Little Mermaid while making them wholly and uniquely hers. Plus, I love how much each fairytale matched the country it was from. My favorite has to be either “Ayama and the Thorn Wood” or “When Water Sang Fire.”

What do you think you’ll read next?

At the top of my to-do list are Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and Wildcard by Marie Lu because they’re the last ones in their respective series, and they’re library books. I’m so pumped for the former but kinda nervous about the latter. I hear it didn’t do too hot compared to Warcross, which I fell head over heels for. I’m also going to start chipping away at Gun Moll and Vision of the Future, so I can move on from those.

What have you been reading lately? What books are you about to start?
