My Review

A modern-day fairytale does exist that can sweep you away into adventure and make you sigh wistfully, and it’s The Will and the Wilds by Charlie N. Holmberg.

I’ve had my eye on this book for awhile, especially since a certain long-winded, so-called fae court series continued to disappointment me and fuel my hatred. Didn’t any author besides Holly Black actually know what fae are? Can’t anyone capture the sense of adventure and danger that comes with bargaining with magical creatures that exist beyond human understanding? Is enemies-to-lovers well and truly dead, with my choices being either “had an argument once”-to-lovers or animalistic alpha male rutting and mating bonds? “Nay!” said Holmberg. “I am here for you, my child.”

Thank you, Ms. Holmberg, I owe you my life.

Turning of a New Leaf

For years, I said I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t start a blog. Not because there’s anything wrong with them or anything, but because of the age-old excuses. “I don’t have time.” “I have nothing valuable or important to say.” Those things are still true, but here I am, trying it out anyway.

In truth, I’ve been contemplating having a blog where I review and recommend books to others because that’s what I’m constantly doing with my friends anyway, and I’m actually pretty good at it. I’ve put friends onto some books that have truly enriched their lives through word of mouth alone.

So, why not try word of writ? Maybe someone out there needs help deciding on their next book buy. Maybe that someone is you, and if it is, I hope we can be book buddies.

I’m going to be getting used to WordPress’ layout and things in the coming days, but in the interim, I’ll start uploading old reviews I’ve made on my Goodreads account to get the ball rolling.

You know, I’m actually pretty excited. This feels like a great decision. 🙂
